Simple Daytime Eye Make-up

Hello lovelies! It's a stay home Saturday for me and I decided to do a quick tutorial on a daily eye make-up. I just did it yesterday with my second haul of Nyx eyeshadows and I already had a compliment from a colleague :)
You will only use 2 eye shadows for this make up, it will lift up your eyes yet not too much for going to work. I will list the items at the end of this post.

Firstly, of course you will need to prime your eyes. I am using Ettusais eye zone tinted colour essence. It helps to brighten your eyes, hide the dark circles and adjust any eye pigmentation. It's also said to promote blood circulation on your eyes. I personally don't use any eye shadow base because I don't like too many stuff on my eyes, and this is sufficient to cover my dark rings. After that, use your favourite loose powder and sweep over your eyes.

Use a big eyeshadow brush and sweep on your favourite base colour. I usually like to use my MAC pro longwear paint pot in Let's Skate but for today I will use my latest collection of Nyx single eyeshadow in My Favorite Color. (It looks a little brownish on the picture below but it's actually a beige-y cream colour). You may also see big specks of glitter on my eye because this colour contains glitter that I deemed too big and rough.
It's ok to smear all the way up to your brow bone, or if you like you can just stop just before the brow bone.

Then use your smokey shadow brush with your favourite brown (preferably darker brown than copper or yellowish brown), brush the outer corner of your upper lids and slowly shading upwards to create a triangle. You can also stretch it into your lids but stay close to your lash line.
At the outer corners, sweep your brush upwards to create a winged look. It doesn't have to be perfect, so just brush along and have fun.

Brush a little also on your lower outer lids, to create a darker tone to your eyes. I feel that it actually helps to make your eyes look bigger. Just go halfway inwards on your lower lids so it doesn't look too strong for a day look.

Line your eyes with a black liquid eyeliner. I do it very close to the lash line and thin so it does not look too much or my eyes too black. Sometimes I realise that when I draw my eyeliner too black and thick, it makes my eyes look smaller... So be very careful with that. If you prefer thicker liners, start off with thinner lines and slowly thicken it.
Put on your favourite mascara and you're done for your daily eye make-up! Only two colours needed, ta-da!

Here's how it looks like when you're done. Put on your foundation, eye brows (sorry I was so lazy to do my brows...) and blush, and you're good to go!

Please drop me your comments on this tutorial, I hope it adds on to your eye make-up ideas. I couldn't find many tutorials of eye make-up for Asians. Most of them are for Caucasians and certain colours do not suit Asian skin. Or otherwise they are too dramatic for a daily look. We usually don't want to look too "wayang" hehehe :)

Products used today.

Nyx Single Eyeshadow in My Favorite Color

Nyx Single Eyeshadow in Root Beer

Clio Liquid Eyeliner in Black

Jordana Best Lash Extreme Mascara in Black

That's all babes! Stay tuned for more reviews and swatches xx

CherryCulture Haul #1 Reviews on Nyx and Jordana products

Hello lovelies! It has been a while and as promised I have returned to share some product reviews. I am still waiting for my second package from CherryCulture but I cannot wait to share what I have bought in the first package.

So.... here goes!

Swatches: Jordana eyebrow powder (Brunette), Nyx Single Eyeshadow (Hot Pink), Nyx Single Eyeshadow (Dark grey), Nyx Single Eyeshadow (Sensual), some brown which I forgot what... lol

Nyx Single Eyeshadow (Hot Pink), Nyx Single Eyeshadow (Dark grey), Nyx Single Eyeshadow (Sensual)

And here comes the long awaited Jordana Best Lash Volumising Mascara. I simply love it!! It volumises in just one or two applications and doesn't smudge. Only thing I didn't like about it is that I have difficulty removing it fully. So I need to take note to clean thoroughly whenever I remove my make up.
Maybe I will try a different type of make up remover.
Here's a photo of the mascara. Soft bristles, which I prefer.

This is one application, but usually I put on two to thicken my eye lines.

Looking great!!

This is my bare eyelashes. I had really short lashes before, and had some botak roots due to an unfortunate lash extension experience. Browhaus lash serum helped me grow back my lashes and it is also longer now. It helps for my lower lashes but not as much. Costing at SGD 89.90 (excluding GST) it is a little steep for a lash serum. But if you need to repair bald spots, it is definitely worth it.

I just got a friend to buy another lash serum since I have finished the Browhaus one. It is the Obagi Elastilash that is available in some aesthetic clinics here. I am not sure if consultation is required. I read reviews that it is proven to be very effective and so I am gonna try it. It costs about the same price as the Browhaus one. So I am guessing this is the price range for something that really works 😉

And here's my latest haul today from Watsons. I have always heard about Nip+Fab products and seen some on asos.com but never tried any. I needed an eye cream badly for my dark rings and saw this having a 20% discount. Gonna use this daily and review on the results, so stay tuned.

Hope you girls have had a great weekend, I had a great one attending my bestie's wedding on Friday and busy setting up my new tablet (I am using it now!!!). Gotta get some beauty sleep for another week of work tomorrow. Sleep pretty lovelies, see ya! x

Pre Haul Excitement

Hey ladies, sorry for the looooong delayed post. I've been busy with work and haven't really gotten the chance to switch on my computer. Hehehe.. I have some reviews and make up ideas coming up and will post them once I get my second package of beauty hauls!

Yes! A second package! There is 40% sale now on CherryCulture.com now and I had to get something so I won't regret! Hahaha.. I bought 2 Nyx blushes and 3 Nyx single eyeshadows and I'm super excited!

I actually received my Jordana mascara last week and it IS really good! I'll show pictures in my next review. Only thing I didn't like about it is that it's quite difficult to remove fully with my usual make up remover.

I will write more soon, stay tuned for full review of the raved about mascara and my other hauls!

Take care and be pretty.

Eyenstein First Giveaway :)

Hello pretties!!

I am obsessing with eye colour palettes and been spending a lot of time looking around on the web for a cheap and good one. I really like the ones from Crown Brush and Coastal Scents, but they are way too expensive after shipping, so I am still considering if I wanna buy them. I also tried browsing for cheaper options like L.A. Colours and Nyx but nothing I like. My bestie's wedding is soon and I intend to do a pretty hot pink / red smokey eye make-up for the dinner, but have not found anything that's within budget and the "right colour".

Since I am having problems finding eye shadows, I was thinking I will let you people throw in suggestions. Tell me which eye shadows (singles or palettes) are your favourites and where you think I can get that gorgeous hot pink/red look, and I will reward the best one with one of my latest haul! Exciting?

Comment below this blog post with your recommendation (1 recommendation per person and preferably a link to the picture so I can view easily) and my favourite will get Jordana's Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara as mcntion in Crazy over drugstore products.
(Sorry my dears, but this is only valid in Singapore at this moment...)

So start bombing me now! (Although I know there aren't too many readers yet.... haha)

And lastly to end this Thursday evening (and start of Friday really soon......) here's a really cute little comic of our daily eyeliner experience, especially on a weekday morning where everything is in a hurry.
Enjoy! xx

Crazy over drugstore products

Today I spent the whole Sunday surfing and reviewing drugstore products. Recently followed StillGlamorus on Instagram and YouTube and saw her vlog on "Underrated DrugStore Products" (see below link).

These brands are mostly not available here in Singapore, so I went around surfing for websites to purchase online. The most exciting product is the Jordana mascaras, I am always crazy about good mascaras! haha.. Just look at the below image from Kasey's video.

I found even more products while going about the website. I would like to give all the products she recommended a try, but I don't really need eyeliners now. I was really tempted to get the Milani's liquid eyeliners, 'cus they look damn solid! lol

So.... after half a day's effort, here's the list of items I am gonna get :)

Definitely getting this! And since they are so cheap, I am gonna get a few more for my friends. Only available in Black.
USD2.99 on CherryCulture.com

They have lengthening mascara as well, and I never miss out trying any lengthening mascaras :) Only available in Black.
USD3.99 on CherryCulture.com

Just in need of eyebrow powder - also can be used as eyeshadow. Getting this in Brunette.
USD1.99 on CherryCulture.com

While surfing on the website, I couldn't help but see Nyx having sale. I have been wanting to try out brighter lip colours for a while now. After researching for reviews, I have decided to get it in Tea Rose (Pink tone) and Louisiana (Bright pink tone). They have soooooo many colours (144 shades I think) that I almost cannot decide.. Look out for swatches if you get indecisive too, it really helps. Other than their lipsticks, you guys should also check out their eye pencils. Although I am not sure if they are as smudge-proof as MAC's, they have a whole range of colours that suit any sort of make-up.
Nyx round lipstick is now USD3.00 on CherryCulture.com now, usual price USD3.50

The items should reach me in 14 days, and will do some swatches when I received them! So peeps, stay tuned.

Favourite Eye "Wear"

Hello everyone!

This is my first post in Eyenstein, and would like to thank everyone who stopped by :)

I started this blog mainly because I love eye make-up and love even more to share with friends and people who enjoy prettifying themselves. If you love eye make-up and want to know tips, latest trends and product reviews, you have come to the right place!

A little about me, I started "experimenting" and "exploring" eye make-up products at age 14, just like many young girls who start to get curious and want to look pretty. I was told I had nice eyes and so I decided to focus and enhance them to make myself look prettier. Most of the time, I use earthy colours, like browns, nude, light pink, etc. I thought that would be easy for a daily look but then I decided not to be lazy and boring anymore and aiming to play around with more colours.

Of course, feedback and recommendations are greatly welcomed and appreciated. Share with me your favourites and technics as well! I'm not a pro after all, and these products are what I found in the midst of my exploration.

Well, let's move on to today's topic! (I'm sure some of you already scrolled all the way to the bottom to see what products I am gonna talk about today hahaha..)

The products I'm gonna share below are my favourites and would usually use everyday. They are still "earthy" but as I go along, I hope to make it more colourful..

From left to right: (top)
MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Let's Skate
Benefit Lemon Aid
NARS Single Eye shadow in Galapagos
(bottom)
Catrice duo eye brush

I especially love this brush from Catrice because #1 it's cheap! Only $4.90 at Guardian. It is duo type with a smokey eye brush on one side, and a liner brush on the other. #2 the smokey eye brush is really soft and works as well as any other ponytail brushes. The liner brush is a little plastic-y but firm enough to be able to glide your liner on your lids. Nope, the plastic-y brush is still soft enough so it doesn't cut your lids.

MAC came up with this pro longwear range which I absolutely love! You know that feeling where your eyes get smudged or your eye shadow wear off after coming back from lunch?? Totally helpless right? MAC's pro longwear series ensure everything stays intact even after sleeping in it (not that I encourage that).. This pink is also really lovely, it gives shimmer to your lids and it can be used as a base as well. I have some dark pigmentation on my lids, so when I put this on, it brightens and highlights my double eyelids and make me look refreshed at 8 in the morning.
Here's a swatch of it :)
And I am sure I don't have to tell you where to get MAC products..

Next up: NARS single eye shadow in Galapagos
This shade is very very dark.. I usually use it as a liner, or when I want to darken my eyes for night make-up. The bad thing is that it smudges so when I use it on my bottom lid, I become a panda when I step out of the house. Otherwise it's a very lovely colour. The gold shimmer adds on to the texture. I just sometimes love a little glitter or shimmer to monotonous colours..
I don't have a swatch of it, but I will post pictures when I am using it.

 From top to bottom:
Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Amethyst
MAC Pro Longwear Eye Liner in Rich Experience
Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil in Black Turquoise

Sorry the swatches are quite blurred..

Laura Mercier recently make a breakthrough into my world after I attended their make-up workshop in Tangs. Their caviar stick eye colour is also smudge-free. It applies on like a crayon and you can smudge it along your lids with a brush or fingers, after it's dried it stays there until you remove them with a make-up remover. They come in other colours as well but this is their signature and also my favourite. It's a purplish brown colour, with a slight metallic sheen. I like to use it daily, just a hint of it at the outer corner of my lids.

It's kohl pencil doesn't work as good though. The colour is really unique, black with tinch of turqouise. But it smudges on my lower lids right after application.. it's quite saddening. Maybe I will try again, let it dry up before I start blinking..

And there's MAC pro longwear again.. Their eye liner in Rich Experience. A dark brown liner which looks natural most of the time. Usually for eye liners I use dark brown as I find black too "gothic". As MAC pro longwear range, this liner doesn't smudge also, even if you use it on your lower lids. I tried rubbing it once to test it's limit, the liner drops off in small bits rather than making you look like a panda. Thumbs up! haha..

From top to bottom:
Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes
Rituals Elegance Lengthening Mascara
Elite BB Lash Mascara

Mascaras are my favourite eye make-up and I am very particular when I choose them. I always complain that I have short lashes and I need something that can 1) Lengthen 2) Volume 3) not smudge. We know there isn't much perfect products so far.. so I tend to over-buy mascaras. Besides the 3 you see above, I have probably another 10-12 more..

Lancome has always been known for their performing mascaras. I love their Amplicils mascara and now this Hypnose Doll Eyes is even better. The only down side is that it smudges on my lower lids after lunch time, and it usually volumise more than it lengthens.

I came across Rituals mascara when I was in Holland for a holiday 4 months ago. I believe it's from UK and nope, we don't have it in Singapore yet, sadly. I bought 2 of their mascaras, 1 of them which is in the picture. Although it says lengthening, it doesn't really. But what is impressive is their non-smudge formula. And with that, I combined with MAC pro longwear range and I have perfect eye make-up throughout the day!

Elite BB lash mascara is also not available in Singapore. I got this from Boots in Thailand for just about THB200. It is actually a mascara for lower lash. If you want to do a dolly look and need lengthening for your lower lashes, this works wonders. I tried using on my upper lashes and it works as well, only that it's such a small tube to use too much of it each time.

Browhaus Extend Lash and Brow Serum

This is a must have! Introduced to me by Browhaus (when I was there for brow tweezing..) I was quite skeptical about it at first. I got it because I was quite desperate after losing lashes on lash extensions.. So I got it and faithfully put it on every single night. It gave me grown lashes in just 2-3 weeks! Miracle. It is also said to fill up empty brow spots. I didn't try it because I was more concerned on my lashes.. There's a slight down side though I am not sure if it is because of this serum. After I stopped using it, my lashes started to drop much easier. I started using again recently, and would probably need to get a new one soon.
Not cheap though, would need to watch your pockets if you want to buy this one. Costs $89.90 (not sure if was promo price, and GST exclusive).
Sacrifices we make for precious little eye hair..

After wearing all the stuff on your eyes the whole day, nothing works like L'Oreal's Gentle Lip and Eye make-up remover. They sell the Eye make-up remover only but it doesn't work as good as the combined one. So I will always get this for make-up removal, it comes in useful when you want to remove a pro longwear lip colour as well ;)
Other make-up removers don't work as well for me. Watsons is selling this for $14.90 now (grab it when they are having sale) or you can get from those cheaper shops like Venus, or Beauty Story, etc..

Lastly, this is a blurred picture of my proudly smudge-free eye make-up, with MAC and Rituals. Hope you guys enjoyed what I have shared and I will share more in time to come!

Happy weekends!
